1. What happened.

Faisal Shahzad failed to blow the car up leaving all the evidence in tack. Most importantly the VIN# that lead to him being identified.

He was put on no fly list and was still able to board an airplane that left and was in the process of taking off to Dubia that was called back and he was apprehended.

This took 53 hours and we are all glad this eneded as it did.

2. What could have happened.

The bomb detonated and all the evidence was blown to kingdom come. It would have been days if not longer gathering the evidence and the VIN# that lead to Faisal Shahzad being apprehended may have taken days if ever found.

Faisal Shahzad is NOT put on any no fly list and leaves country. He sits in a safe house in Pakistan today.

Jack could have caught this man in first scenario given the same resources. Jack doubts the man would have been caught by anyone in the second scenario unless someone in Pakistan gave him up.

This was NO big feat of police or terrorism work. It was the luck of the draw that the bomb did not detonate that got this man caught. And if he had one more day … he wouldn’t have even been caught WITH all of this eveidence.
